Wei Yang (b. 1994, Liuzhou) is an artist living and working between Liuzhou and Frankfurt am Main. Through painting, sculpture, and performance, Yang explores human experience as a fluid and diasporic geography, which is ever shaped by movement and memory. By layering intimacy, belonging, and companionship, he creates hybrid images drawn from folklore, myth, marginalized histories, and personal landscapes. His work challenges dominant narratives and archival neglect, reimagining geography not as fixed terrain but as an embodied and relational space.
Yang's work has been shown at Tofu Collective, Copenhagen (2024); Centro Cultural Las Cigarreras, Alicante (2024); Carme Contemporary Culture Center, Valencia (2024); Gold+Beton, Cologne (2023); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2022); Tank Shanghai (2019); and Tabula Rasa Gallery, Beijing (2018).
In collaboration with Zishi Han, their project Hairpin Beneath has been exhibited at ScupltureCenter, New York (2025); Perdu, Amsterdam (2025); Memphis, Linz (2024); Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2024); West Den Haag, The Hague (2024); Delfina Foundation, London (2023); and Pickle Bar, Berlin (2023). They have upcoming duo exhibitions at Politikens Forhal, Copenhagen in 2025.
