about the residency
Wandering Landscape focuses on the experiences of the Chinese diaspora in Valencia, being one of the first cities in Spain to have a Chinese neighborhood. Through photography, oral history, archives, and material reconstructions, the project examines the intersection of geopolitical relationships, intimacy, belonging, and the sense of relative lag of time as a new possibility that becomes an activation of its existence and representation against silent cultural assimilation. The sense of distance and familiarity with the Chinese neighborhood in Valencia has led the artist to juxtapose reflections on decelerated and subtle domesticity, working with nostalgia linked to the graphic and aesthetic expressions of a certain moment of Chinese migration or with the memories and experiences of the people who inhabit this context, thus configuring an archive that is also a landscape.
